Nan, Grandad, David, Bev and Diane all in Mèze at the same time!

Well, we have just had an absolutely brilliant, if not tiring, week with a whole bunch of Weetmans in Mèze.
The weather was fantastic (apart from the last day, which David will not forget) and it was good to see some good old English sunburn! It was really nice to see everyone after such a long time. We managed to go out for a few very nice meals (that Cassoulet in Carcassonne on the last day will be remembered for a long time, not least for the smells that it caused the following day....) and got down to the Matt' Bar for a few drinks too.
David and Martin tried their hardest to drink all of the wine that had been produced over the past six months in the region, although Diane and Bev did themselves proud with the rosé too! There were a few cultural visits along the way (apologies for my weaknesses as a tour guide by the way) in Montpellier, Nimes, le Pont du Gard, and Carcassonne.
Apart from getting the back of the rear view wing mirror stolen one night, everything went without a hitch, which is quite surprising considering that so many Weetmans were together in the same place!
The trip has left lots of pleasant memories and I really do hope that we get chance to do it again in the near future. I've added a few photos here, and will add more once I get them from Mum and the others. There are some of an evening spent with Pauline's family (Angelina Jolie, remember?), and then some of Carcassonne.
We're now busy preparing for our holiday in Portugal (leaving tomorrow night!)...no rest for the wicked eh...

La Foire Languedocienne à Loupian

Last weekend there was an exciting event in the usually small and quiet town of Loupian...
Every year, the Foire Languedocienne takes place in our town, which gives the kids and people who have always lived here the chance to dress up in traditional clothes and to parade in the town centre. Hundreds of people come from all over the Languedoc region (hence the name) to see it. It was great, lots of music, drinking etc etc.
They even let some bulls go on a run in the town on Saturday, with some sporty youngsters trying to catch them.

Anyway, I've added a few photos here of the boys' school performance, which opened the festivities. There's also a few of the bull run (and the horses that kept them grouped together). It seems a bit barbaric to try and stop a bull by pulling its tail, but apparently it doesn't hurt too much. You'll also see a very colourful Portuguese group that was invited to take part in the celebrations.

Matt's eye patch

Matthieu went for an eye test recently, as his left eye was straying to the center quite often. He now has a pair of glasses and an eye patch to wear for 5 weeks (occlusion therapy) to try and correct things. Luckily he is taking it very well ! There are a few photos here.

Christmas 2007 in Birmingham

Finally got around to adding some photos of our Xmas trip to Brum! We had a great time and it was great to see everyone. The boys loved it, can't wait to come back again soon, although I'm sure my folks are enjoying a nice calm house environment again!
Edit (08/01) - I've added some photos of when Steph's parents came here after the New Year too. They got some more presents, and you can also see Papy and Ben playing on the Wii!

Holidays in Chatelaillon Plage - 2007

I've finally found time to add some photos of the first week of our holidays in Chatelaillon. You'll see that the boys have a new trampoline, Steph's dad has a new car, and that the boys managed to spend a fair amount of time in the pool despite the bad weather. Ben can even swim without his armbands on!
You may also notice a couple of creamy white New Zealanders who came to visit us before disappearing to the other side of the world!
The photos are here.
As soon as I get some more of the second week I'll get them added.
