Nan and Grandad in Loupian!

After a week or so in the Alps, Nan and Grandad Weetman have made it down to Loupian, and even brought James with them. The weather has been great, so they have had a good time, seen lots of horses, done lots of walking, and drunk lots of beer. Some photos have been added - see here.

Ryanair are crap / French presidential elections

As some of you may know, we're off to Portugal in a few weeks. We had booked a flight with Ryanair, at a really good price, and then last week they just decided to stop the line all together! What a total joke! They are going to give us our money back, but only giving two weeks notice before we were due to leave is a farce. We are now going to have to drive there, which will be far more tiring and more stressful than planned....that's life I suppose.
Anyway, you probably also know that the French are voting for a new president today. Can't wait for it to be over so that the press will talk about something else! The election is a bit of a joke really, a bit like a Miss France contest (basically voting based on looks), as there hasn't really been much debate about the ideas of each candidate etc etc. As I still haven't been able (or bothered) to go and get French nationality, I can't even vote. But then I probably wouldn't know who to vote for anyway......

Excellent (but tiring) weekend!

What a great weekend! I haven't done so much exercise in a few years, and so far I haven't felt too bad (no aching muscles etc). After my shortish bike ride on Saturday (see Relaxing weekend), Steph and I both went for a ride on Sunday, and ended up doing about 20 km, and I'm pretty sure that 19 of those were uphill.... Still, it was good fun, and I think that we'll definitely do it again if we can find the time!
On Sunday evening some of my work colleagues came round for a curry. The meal was lovely (as always, 'cos steph cooked...), but as usual, we overdid the drinks slightly, which led to a very thick head on Monday morning!
On Monday we went to the "Mondial du Vent" in Leucate, where there was supposed to be a windsurfing competition....but there was no wind! We got to see Steph's best friend from when she was at school, Antoine Albeau, who is now a windsurfing World Champion! We don't see him often, but there are a few competitions in the south so it's nice to see him. It's quite funny, as he is also from La Rochelle and got married to a girl from Birmingham earlier this year !
As you can imagine, it was quite difficult to go back to work today, but I know have in mind the fact that I'll be on holiday in a few weeks!!

Relaxing weekend !!

Guess what ? I actually had a lie in this morning! Didn't get up until 9am, which is really late for us...I'll have to thank the parents in law for making that possible (the boys are fine by the way!). Went to the hairdressers this morning too. I've decided that I will start to make the most of it, as I may not be able to go as often in the future. I haven't lost a lot of hair, but it is thinning...
Friends from Barcelona, Marie-Ange and Ignacio, came for lunch with their three kids too, which was really nice as we hadn't seen them for ages!
This afternoon, Steph went rowing, although I don't think she actually took part, and I actually got off my backside and went on a bike ride...I made it all the way to our old house in Mèze (it took about 10 minutes!), and had a beer with Patrick and Christine...the ride back was much harder than I expected! We're going to try and get some exercise tomorrow too, as we have to make the most of the nice weather and the long weekend...
More news tomorrow...............

Life without the boys...

The boys have now been in La Rochelle for a few days, so it's very quiet here... Work has been hard over the past few weeks, so I'm trying to take it a bit easier, and I have to admit that the peace and quiet is nice, but there's always something in the back of your head saying: "hang on, why is there no noise??"
Anyway, Steph went out last night, which means that I got chance to watch the footy without getting moaned at...we were supposed to be going out tonight too, but that has been cancelled. I think we'll just have a nice relaxing evening instead (and maybe watch the footy again!).
By the way, if you have any photos or news that you'd like to add in here, then just let me know.
